COVID Update: Testing, Vaccination & Boosters Available for Danvers Residents

Posted on December 18, 2021

The Town of Danvers wishes all residents a safe, healthy, and happy holiday season.  With cases again on the rise, residents are advised to exercise caution when meeting with friends and family or gathering in public places such as malls, restaurants, and entertainment venues.

The Commonwealth’s Department of Public Health is tracking worrisome trends related to COVID-19 positivity rates and hospitalizations.  Since Halloween, the Town’s case count has been steadily increasing, which will likely continue due to holiday gatherings, colder weather, and the impact of emerging variants.

Masks, hand washing, and social distancing remain potent tools in preventing the spread of COVID-19.  Additionally, to protect yourselves and those around you to the fullest extent possible, we strongly encourage all residents older than five-years-old to get vaccinated.

Hundreds of millions of doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered safely, with negligible adverse reactions reported.  COVID-19 vaccines effectively protect people from getting sick and significantly lower the severity of illness, emergency room visits, hospitalizations, and deaths among those with a breakthrough infection.  According to the most recent CDC data, unvaccinated people are 6x times more likely to suffer from severe illness, 9x more likely to require hospitalization, and 14x more likely to die from COVID-19 complications.

Currently, the Town’s vaccination rate is robust and still climbing – over 77% of those eligible for the vaccine have already done so, with another 8% in the process.  Almost every age cohort has surpassed, or soon will, 80% – recognized by the Commonwealth as a milestone in the fight against COVID.
