Level 4 Outdoor Water Use Restrictions - Watering by sprinkler allowed Tuesday & Saturday ONLY from 7PM-10PM. Hand watering allowed.

DANVERS MOVES TO LEVEL 4 WATER RESTRICTIONS

Posted on June 18, 2018

The Town of Danvers announces an increase in outdoor water use restrictions to Level 4. This means outdoor watering with sprinklers and/or irrigation systems is allowed on Tuesday and Saturday ONLY from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Hand watering (hand held hoses with nozzles and watering cans) is allowed anytime. Car washing is also allowed. This change in restrictions is due to the low flow in the Ipswich River.

These water restrictions were instituted when the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) mandated regulations as part of the Water Management Act, due to growing concerns of highly stressed river basins. Danvers is one of several communities in the Ipswich River basin which is a stressed water basin that prompted these new regulations. DEP regulations include a summer cap, which runs from May 1 through October 1, restricting Town use to 3.8 million gallons per day (mgd) on a yearly average. Conserving water now will reduce the need for the Town to implement more stringent restrictions later. The small changes you make can make a big difference!

The Town is requesting residents to watch for changes in the water restriction levels as the summer progresses. The Town will announce changes on Town building signage throughout the Town, local cable access television, the Town website (www.danversma.gov), the Danvers DPW Facebook & Twitter pages, and the local newspapers. If you have any questions on the water restrictions, please call the Department of Public Works at 978-777-0001 x3011.
