Public Health Director Mark Carleo announces that the emergency suspension of the town’s ban on single use plastic bags will remain in effect through September. The Town recognizes the challenges that both businesses, and residents continue to face during the phased reopening of the Commonwealth. Extending the suspension will allow retail stores, and their customers, time to prepare.
Plastic bag bans were suspended statewide in March at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, and Danvers’ will remain suspended through at least September.
The Danvers Health Department will reassess the bag ban suspension prior to the end of September and will announce whether or not it will be further extended.
