About Us

The Planning and Economic Development Division plays a key role in shaping the future of new and infill development in Danvers.  The division develops guiding policies for the Town's long-range planning, strategic plan, and reviews new developments through bylaws, zoning regulations, and subdivision regulations.

Objective

Our objective is to create and facilitate an effective partnership with residents and businesses in the community by providing an open and transparent planning process with an emphasis on engagement that results in a fair, objective, predictable, and accountable planning process.  We seek to ensure that Danvers continues to be a healthy, safe, attractive, and enjoyable place to live, work or visit.

Guiding Principle

The Planning and Economic Development Division staff provides high quality service when you need it.

We will:

  • Listen to understand your needs
  • Give clear, accurate and prompt answers to your questions
  • Explain how you can achieve your goals under applicable rules
  • Help resolve problems in an open, objective manner
  • Maintain high ethical standards
  • Work to improve our service

Planning involves the complex interaction of individuals, business organizations, other advocacy groups, and developers, with appointed and elected Town officials and staff.  The Town Manager appoints individuals to serve on the Planning Board, who decide on development projects under their jurisdiction.  The Planning Division staff are employees that work with the Planning Board, Board of Selectmen, and Town Manager and appointed groups to administer the planning and economic development programs.
