  • Add to calendar 2020-03-24 18:30:00 2020-03-24 19:30:00 America/New_York Wilderness Skills Workshop- Backpack Essentials Some hikes allow us the freedom of not carrying a backpack, but more often than not, we enter the woods with a pack of some sort, maybe carrying a bottle of water, perhaps a light rain coat, and inevitably some snacks.  But if we’re already taking a pack with us in the woods, we might as well have it packed properly for the journey ahead.  Get together with Staff Ranger Nate Swisher as he discusses some easy and lightweight options to carry EVERY time you take a hike; you never know, it might just save your life someday!This series will be presented with families and individuals in mind.  We ask that attendees be at least 8 years of age and have a strong interest in the outdoor skills being presented.  Most topics will be for those with little to no experience, but all classes will be flexible and can be tailored to the group.  Discussions and hands on work will be encouraged, but there will be no heavy lifting or strenuous activities.  These classes will be held in Endicott Park’s Nature Center with short hikes and walks taking place around the property to cover experiential learning. Workshops will skip 4/21 due to April Vacation.$10 per person.
