Fire Alarm Plan Review and Permits
Existing Fire Alarm Systems
A fire alarm permit shall be required for any alterations to existing fire alarm systems. 3 sets of submittals shall be submitted with the below permit application to the Fire Prevention Office for approval.
New Fire Alarm Systems
Any new fire alarm systems in commercial/residential buildings shall require a building permit from the Town Building Inspector. The Fire Department shall receive 3 sets of submittals with the below Construction Review Form, to review and submit comments to the building inspector prior to installation of the system. The Fire Department may require a system review with the submitting fire alarm/electrical contractor.
Fire Alarm Acceptance Testing
All updated or new fire alarm installations shall be tested by the fire department upon completion. Call the Fire Prevention office to schedule an appointment. All systems shall be tested 100% and documented on the NFPA 72 Inspection and Testing Form. All completed fire alarm systems shall be documented on the NFPA 72 Record of Completion Form. Both forms shall be presented to the fire inspector at the final inspection.
