The Town of Danvers welcomes applications for the full-time, benefitted position of Director of Planning & Economic Development. The Town of Danvers is a reputable Town on the North Shore, providing a supportive and welcoming environment for Town staff, including a commitment to professional development and policies that support a healthy work/life balance. This position manages the Planning and Economic Development office by helping establish its goals, objectives, methods, and procedures. Primary responsibilities of the office include reviewing development plans and overseeing staff recommendations to the Planning Board, Zoning Board, Conservation Commission, and other regulatory board and commissions.

The Town will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteerism, education, and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item in the qualification section of the job description is labeled required.

Bachelor’s degree in planning/Natural Resources Management or related field with American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) status required; master’s degree preferred.  Seven to ten (7-10) years of experience managing planning functions and general administration.  Engineering experience preferred, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. This is a full-time, 35 hour per week position. Management pay scale, starting at $86,930.62 annually, with ability to move through scale (via step system) to the max step at $116,051.42 annually. The Town offers excellent benefits including health and retirement plans (more information here).
