2018 OPEN SPACE INTERN PROGRAM
The Town of Danvers is a municipality of about 26,000 population located on the North Shore of Massachusetts, comprising an area of approximately 14 square miles. The Town has over 350 acres of open space lands which are available to the public for use for passive recreation including walking, bird watching, picnicking, fishing, and canoeing. Some of the Town’s land holdings have been improved to provide amenities such as parking areas, picnic areas, walking trails, and canoe launch ramps. Seasonal staff is needed to maintain and improve these special places.
FIELD TECHNICIAN (3 POSITIONS)
DUTIES INCLUDE: Working with foreman and other interns on the maintenance of existing open space and passive recreation lands, including grounds and facilities, the monitoring of the use of these lands, and the construction of new trails and facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS: A responsible person able to work effectively both individually and as part of a team. A positive attitude and self-motivation is a must. Some experience with tools and power equipment associated with grounds and building maintenance is preferred. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., and walk, stand, bend for long periods of time. Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions. Must conduct themselves in a professional manner when representing the Town of Danvers.
APPROXIMATE PROGRAM PERIOD: Mid-May to August 30th (~15 weeks)
Monday through Friday 7am-4pm (1 hour lunch break)
