Seasonal Ranger/Laborer

The Town of Danvers is seeking applicants for the seasonal (non-benefited) position of Park Ranger/Laborer for the Office of Natural Resources.  The Office of Natural Resources maintains over 400 acres of open space land which are available to the public for use for passive recreation.  Some of the Town’s open space lands, including Endicott Park, Proctor Farm and Choate Farm, have been improved to provide amenities such as parking areas, picnic areas, walking trails, and canoe launch ramps.

The Park Ranger/Laborer is a part-time/seasonal uniformed position responsible for maintenance of Endicott Park and other Open Space lands throughout Town.  The Park Ranger performs a variety of duties which require the exercise of considerable discretion, judgment and initiative in planning and implementing project development, and dealing with the public.

The Park Ranger/Laborer is a front-line provider of customer service and education.  He or she will perform light to heavy manual tasks in a wide variety of maintenance and construction work primarily throughout Endicott Park but also other Open Space lands throughout Town.  Operates motor vehicles, tractors, mowers, off-road vehicles, radio communications equipment, maintenance apparatus and tools, and standard office equipment

JOB REQUIREMENTS

A full job description is available by clicking on the job title above.  Work hours must be flexible and are generally limited to 19 hours per week.  Shifts will depend on daylight hours and park permit usage.  Weekends and holidays are part of the workweek.  MA Class D Driver’s License required.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND/OR TRAINING

Course work in Horticulture, Urban Forestry or Environmental Science is desirable.

APPROXIMATE HIRE PERIOD:  May to August 30th (~16 weeks) Opportunity exists for an extended hire period.

 Salary: $13 – $15.50 per hour based on experience
