Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Program

The Town of Danvers was recently awarded a grant from the Commonwealth’s Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Program (MVP) to identify priority action items that will improve our community’s resilience to climate change. We plan to engage municipal staff, key stakeholders, and the broader public throughout the process.

The Town of Danvers held the MVP Workshop on December 5, 2019 from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The workshop was held in the Gordon Room at the Peabody Institute Library located at 15 Sylvan Street, Danvers, MA.

The MVP workshop will follow the Community Resilience Building guidance developed by the Nature Conservancy, which has been successfully used in over 100 communities. The workshop’s objectives are to:

  • Identify natural hazards that present the greatest threat to the community.
  • Evaluate strengths and vulnerabilities of residents, infrastructure, and natural resources.
  • Develop and prioritize actions that reduce the impact of hazards and increase resilience.

By participating in this program, Danvers will be designated as an MVP Community and be eligible for future grants that promote resilience. Following the workshop, we hosted a meeting open to public to receive broader input on the planning process.

The final report is available in three PDFs above at the top of this page. We are accepting public comment until April 30, 2020. Please send comments to Stephen King ([email protected]) or Sharon Clement ([email protected]).
