Proposed Districts

The Town of Danvers Historic District Commission will hold a public hearing in the Toomey Room located in Town Hall, 1 Sylvan Street, Danvers, Massachusetts, on Monday, September 26, 2022, at 7:00 PM to discuss the establishment of two new historic districts under the provisions of MGL c 40C, as amended.

One district is proposed as the “James Putnam Jr. House Historic District” and is made up of Assessor’s Parcel ID number 034 003, with a street address of 42 Summer Street.

The other is proposed as the “Putnam-Learoyd House Historic District” and is made up of Assessor’s Parcel ID number 025 024, with a street address of 367 Maple Street.

The Commission believes that creating these districts better preserves the character and historical significance of Danvers.  As required by law, it has drafted a Preliminary Study Report on each of these districts, which summarizes the resources present in them and demonstrates additional protections a local historic district bylaw would provide.  The Commission would like your input.

The Preliminary Study Reports are on file with the Planning & Economic Development Office at Danvers Town Hall, but may also be accessed here:
