How do I apply for a Business Certificate?

You may obtain a Business Certificate at the Clerk’s Office.  The cost is $25 which is valid for four (4) years.  Please bring a valid picture ID, payment of $25 (cash or check).  You will also be required to get a sign off from the Zoning Department (located at Town Hall).

Please note that if you drop off or mail your application and payment and do not appear in person to submit your application, you must have your signature notarized.  In addition, if you send in your application, please include a letter explaining your business so that we can review with the Building Inspector, (examples include: a landscaping business may have x number of vehicles parked at the location, or home office only, no customers, or internet based only, etc.)

Once your application is received in the Town Clerk’s Office, various departments will need to review the request.  There are some Business Certificates that may take several days to approve,  you will be contacted once it is approved and ready for pick up.
