Tobacco Policy

The Danvers Board of Health is responsible for setting tobacco (and vaping products) control and cessation policy for the Town, and does so in partnership with other agencies and organizations. In particular, the North Shore/Cape Ann Tobacco Policy Program, the Massachusetts Tobacco Cessation and Prevention Program (MTCP), Tobacco Free Mass, DanversCARES and other interested parties and stakeholders.

Our current regulation entitled Restricting the Sale of Tobacco Products is a comprehensive and enforceable policy designed to prevent access by those under 21 years of age, to restrict flavored products which appeal to youth to establishments which restrict access to those 21 years of age and older, caps the number of permits to prevent high retailer density, sets minimum purchase prices, and much more.  Additionally, it establishes penalties which include fines and permit suspensions for repeated violations.
