The Town of Danvers has chosen Ms. Jasmine Ramón to serve as the community’s first Director of Equity and Inclusion. A brand-new position for the Town, Ms. Ramón will provide leadership in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion in partnership with staff, residents, and stakeholder groups. The position will also serve as a resource to the Danvers Public Schools and Peabody Institute Library in support of their DEI goals.
“The events of the past few years, both locally and globally, have elevated the importance of establishing a culture of equity and inclusion, both as an organization and as a community,” said Steve Bartha, Town Manager. “Ms. Ramón emerged from a field of roughly twenty candidates as the clear choice for this position, and we are both grateful and excited that she chose to join our team.”
Prior to accepting this role, Ms. Ramón served as the Assistant Director of the Latinx Center at Tufts University, and she also works as an independent DEI consultant. Ms. Ramón holds a MA from Northeastern in Sociology and a BA from Alfred University in Communication Studies.
Originally from Newburgh, New York, Ms. Ramón relocated to the Boston region for graduate school. In her free time, she enjoys coaching youth soccer. Ms. Ramón is thrilled to learn more about and celebrate the Danvers community members and work with a dynamic team in support of positive social change. She will begin her full-time role in late April.
